Workshop: Lueftlmalerei in the Alps: Over 500 years of decorative facade painting

Seminar content:

LΓΌftlmalerei refers to the indigenous art form of facade painting found mainly in rural areas in southern Germany. Typical Bavarian LΓΌftlmalerei originated in the late Baroque period of the 18th century, predominantly along the trade routes of the time from Italy across the Alps to Augsburg. Characteristic of the faΓ§ade art, which even today makes many villages look like a β€˜colourful picture book’, are depictions of Christian doctrine or images from everyday life and the lives of people as well as their environment and landscapes. However, faΓ§ade painting does not have to be limited to this tradition of choosing motifs, as the artist Bernhard Ludwig Rieger demonstrates very successfully in his works. For him, societal and social themes are often the impetus for his designs, proof that traditional faΓ§ade painting goes hand in hand with the modern street art movement in urban centres and is therefore β€˜en vogue’. Using proven techniques, a facade can be customised to reflect the spirit of the times and regional architecture. Tradition meets modernity - for example in the design of residential or commercial buildings. The aim of the seminar is to provide you with motivation and creativity in relation to faΓ§ade painting for your everyday work. Take the opportunity to exchange ideas with colleagues in a communicative and relaxed atmosphere and develop your own ideas in order to put them into practice.
